Smart Newtown Computer Hub
Our computer hub is located inside the Newtown Community Centre, at the corner of Rintoul and Colombo Streets. It is available for hire most weekday evenings after 4:30 PM, and all day on weekends.
The rest of the building is inhabited by the various other projects and services of the Newtown Community Centre, as well as a community theatre, kitchen, dance hall, art room, and other hirable venues. Capacity: Space for up to 6 people.
Cost:
- Community Hire - e.g. community classes, NGO hire etc.: $25-$28 p/h
- Private Hire - e.g. parties $30, commercial: $41 p/h
- Bond: $100, for all hires

Facilities: We have 5 operational desktop computers running Windows 11. They are loaded with all the standard Windows utilities; Google Chrome, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge web browsers, and more.
We have wi-fi and spare ethernet and power cables for any brought-in wired devices.
Smart Newtown Laptop Fleet
We have a fleet of identical laptops that we use for delivering our computer classes, and which are also available for the public to hire. They come preloaded with all the same software as our desktop Hub PCs, they boot quickly, and they run well. The laptops are secured against malware and data theft, because they contain a software that automatically clears all files, internet history, and saved logins after the computers have been shut down or restarted.
Capacity: We have 10 laptops to hire. For those looking to bring their own wired devices, we can also lend power and ethernet cables.
Cost:
- All Hires: $30 for full day, $15 for half day.
- Bond: $200, for all hires - this is refundable this is refundable assuming our hire conditions have been met.
